Massage therapy is known to decrease stress, help prevent injuries, help control pain, and improve tissue pliability and flexibility, as well as enhancing the mind/body connection thereby increasing body awareness. The application of various techniques is used to affect the different tissues of the body including the muscles, ligaments, joints, fascia, organs and blood vessels, as well as having a significant positive impact on the nervous system. Many techniques elicit a parasympathetic response in the body (the relaxation response) which provides an opportunity where the body is better able to heal and rejuvenate.
