Kristi is a 2002 graduate of the three-year massage therapy program at Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in Vernon, British Columbia. Since her graduation, she has practised in West Kelowna, and since 2011 she has been practicing within her home clinic located in the Shannon Lake area, just a few short minutes from downtown Westbank. In 2017, she also graduated from the two-year Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy training with Body Intelligence.
Kristi grew up not too far from here, in Kamloops, BC. It was her first experience in seeing a massage therapist many years ago that sealed the fate for the direction of her career. She earned her massage therapy diploma at Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy (OVCMT) in Vernon, BC graduating in 2002. Upon competing her program and becoming registered in the province of BC, she settled in to West Kelowna and has been practicing locally ever since.
Kristi believes in the effectiveness of massage therapy and has enjoyed working with numerous clients over the years. Whether the goal is to develop a better physical balance, a better mind-body connection, less physical or mental/emotional stress from daily life, massage therapy can play an integral role in assisting with those goals.
In the early stages of her career, Kristi originally had the vision of opening up her own multidisciplinary clinic, but life experience had a way of showing her what she truly desired and needed. She discovered that a sense of peace and balance for her clients and herself was best served in a quiet location away from the hub of the downtown core, and thus Maguire Massage Therapy was born in 2011.
Throughout her career, Kristi has taken training in a few different modalities, but the one that has always held a special place in her heart is Craniosacral Therapy. She has studied under several different instructors and was first introduced to Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy a few years ago. It is a modality that supports and appreciates the whole person and focuses on providing a space for the body to unravel and unwind its own stuck patterns and correct its own imbalance. Kristi originally chose the profession of massage therapy because she was passionate about treating the whole person. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy has brought her back to her roots of why she chose the profession in the first place, and she loves supporting the body as it unwinds and remembers what it knows how to do.
In November 2017, Kristi completed her two year training with Body Intelligence, learning under Ged Sumner, a recognized leader in the field of Biodyamics. She earned her diploma in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, becoming a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist. She is a Registered Craniosacral Therapist (RCST®) through her membership with the BCTA/NA. Upon graduating she was also honoured to be asked to be an assistant tutor at the Body Intelligence trainings. She is excited to share the work with you!
